Week 1 Picks - Rob McFarren

Living in Avondale, AZ but currently wishing for the weather of Colorado Springs...here are my week 1 picks:

TCU v. Baylor --While the Horned Frogs are 1 of 2 Texas schools I can say I like (UTEP the other), I feel an upset coming on with all the turnover from last year.

Oregon v. LSU --Love Oregon's helmets and offensive philosophy.  

Boise St. v. Georgia --Being in Atlanta, this is a long-shot. But Boise St. is playing for a title - and have you seen their uniforms for this game? (compare with these for Georgia) The helmet alone - go Broncos!

East Carolina v. South Carolina --This won't be the one that derails S. Carolina

South Florida v. Notre Dame --Another year of improvement for the Fighting Irish. 

Miami (OH) v. Missouri --Mizzou. Black and Gold triumphs.

Minnesota v. USC --Maroon and Yellow are the ugliest uniforms in my book. This makes this and the ASU-USC games the ugliest ones to watch all season long!

SMU v. Texas A&M --I should be tempted to pick SMU since everyone else is picking the Aggies. Alas, my co-worker Signe is one too.

Marshall v. West Virginia --I'll admit, I like the Mountaineers...but how much?

Army v. Northern Illinois --If you call my house, you'll hear me singing this on the answering machine.

Northwestern v. Boston College --Have to go NW since they rolled out ads in the Boston area spouting Dan Persa as a Heisman Candidate! If they can't win the first one, that money was wasted.

BYU v. Mississippi --Ole Miss at home...this won't be the game that shows how close other leagues are to the SEC.

Ball St. v. Indiana --If at the end of the season, this is the game that keeps me from winning - oh well, family loyalty. Both teams have new coaches. (scroll down to the bottom for this game)

Colorado v. Hawaii --So want to pick the Buffaloes under their new head coach...but not quite yet.

Miami (FL) v. Maryland --No one wants to touch Miami with a 10-ft. pole or winning pick right now.


Oh - since I've been linking to uniforms, check out these throwbacks for the upcoming Michigan - Notre Dame contest. Also, Arizona State's new uniforms are already sparking controversy (but I think they are a definite upgrade!).
